Another Desk!!

Yay! The desk is done so now the illustration has begun. Excuse the mess of a space but that’s where it sits. Things are still being organized and I’m figuring out what I need to be where so I can have the fewest interruptions in the process. : )

Park(ing) Day 2010

This past spring I participated in Park(ing) Day, a nationwide event where people rent out metered parking spots for a day and fill the space with a temporary park rather than a car. The idea is to get people thinking about the existence of  nature and parks in the city. It poses a visual and experiential question to get people thinking “What if  this was different?”

Gabriella Morrone and myself, sponsored by The Front and with help from friends, designed and constructed the temporary park over the course of a couple weeks. The benches and table were constructed using reclaimed wood, some of which came from the Habitat for Humanity affiliate ReStore on the Westside and the sod came from a vendor 30min outside of the city. The installation in the city was only a single day but it was reconstructed in an interior space and used as a student lounge for a short time as well.
